50 Songs For The Rest Of Your Life

So I was dared to make this list

IF YOU COULD ONLY LISTEN TO 50 SONGS FOR THE REST OF YOUR LIFE, WHICH SONGS WOULD YOU CHOSE AND WHY?

It took like forever.

That my laptop had to see the tech guy several times during the last weeks didn't really help putting this list together

(I shouldn't have said "I'll be back soon" on the prior post xD I'm sorry )

However, after such a long time I can "proudly" present it and

hope it'll be at least a bit entertaining as it isn't about video games - for once ;)

P.S.: You'll probably need YouTube.

1. SUPERGIRL - REAMONN

This song was the first one that came to my mind when a friend suggested I should make such a list as well. It was released in 2000 and ever since then it has been my personal "Theme Song" for some reasons

2. PLATITUDE - BLOODPIT

Awww, the memories. Now there's actually a story behind that song. I've been invited to a gig of said band in 2006. I didn't knew the band back then and this has been the first song I've heard on YouTube. I liked it and went to see that gig and now, years after that, I'm still sitting here and enjoy the voice of

3. SHINE A LIGHT - MATTHAU MIKOJAN

this guy, who used to be Bloodpit's singer back in 2006. Knowing each other for that long I just have to list at least two songs, right? ;) This song also came out during a pretty hard time in my life and gave me strenght to carry on and "shine a light"

4. INTERNAL BLEEDING STRAWBERRY - OLIVIA LUFKIN

That songI use to listen it on replay for hours whenever I feel like I should write something (like short stories and poems). For some reason it triggers the inner psychopath in a way that really affects the way you write. Now, when you're settled in the "horror/thriller"-genre as author - what would be better than this?!

5. 37.0 C - YAIDA HITOMI

A Death Note song? Really? Yes. For somereasons I have this nickname "Mello" (which is an original character from the series - for all non-otakus out there ;)-) Since I also wear that name as tattoo on my arm *of course* there has to be a song from Death Note here. Why not the original themes for Mello? Because I can. And also because this song means a lot to me and one of my dearest friends - who happens to be called Near. Hah!

6. BAD APPLE!! - NOMICO

The animated video is awesome (I suggest you watch the video) What to say about it? I just love everything about this song. Lyrics, rhythm, video, game,And it brings back so many memories of short trips and looong trainrides.

7. DUVET - B A

I've never seen the Anime "Serial Experiments Lain" buuut the game was pretty cool (until the patch for the translation failed xD) Anyway, this song reminds me of someone I used to love and still hold dear as a friend.

8. MY ANGEL (GABRIEL) - LAMB

Now this song really gets me downI met this girl online and we were tuned to the same wavelength from the very first minute on. We shared a whole lot of things and could talk for hours. And suddenly she kicked me out of her life because I've found a new job after some time without any and she lost hers simultaneously and couldn't handle the simple fact I went to work every day again. That's bitter. It took me over a year to get kinda over it but still.. whenever I listen to that song I remember. Because it's her favourite song

9. CRY LITTLE SISTER - GERARD MCMANN

Hm. Now where to start? First the Movie "Lost Boys" - Cult movie! Talking about lost boys of course the next thing to say is that's the opener for every The 69 Eyes gig and those bring back memories of all kind, too. (I get the feeling I should write a gig-memory-post some day ) This song also is featured in my "writer's playlist".

10. DEAD MAN'S BALLET - SIXX:A.M.

When I broke my spine last year I finally had the time to read Nikki Sixx' books and there has been this one sentence in "This Is Gonna Hurt" that reallyuhm(I have no idea how to explain that, really). He tells about the problems he had with his father and somehow I can relate to his thoughts though the situation is different.

11. DEAD SILENCE REMIX - ???

??? - yeah. Frankly I have no idea who made that awesome remix of Dead Silence. YouTuber's sadly don't always give proper credits - so with this one. I've been stumbling upon this song looking for inspirationnow it's my alltime-favourite in the writer's playlist and has inspired short stories such as "Sick", "Traitor" and "Crimson Rain"

12. ONE REASON - FADE

It's in my writer's playlist but also it's one of the songs I listen to on full volume whenever I'm seriously mad. The best advice I can give you isrun for your life whenever you see me listening to it. Just check the lyrics to get an idea of what I'm talking about

13. RIVER FLOWS IN YOU - YIRUMA

Yiruma - if you enjoy piano (which I surely do every now and then) then Yiruma is the name. Personally I love any of his songs but I figured it'd be wise to go with the most well-known song. (But seriously people, fucking STOP to confuse it with Bella's Lullaby, giving Yiruma's masterpiece the nickname "Edward's Lullaby". No one deserves such a comparison, really.)

14. Built God, Then We'll Talk - Panic! At The Disco

So many memories about this one, too. I used to play an online RPG called "Legend Of The Green Dragon" - it wasn't that cool actually but I played it for hours daily. Now everytime I'm playing online games (like Hoshi Saga or Pandemic 2 or any RPGs) I have this song in my head. Stuck. And it usually takes about a week to get rid of it again.

15. HURT - JOHNNY CASH

I guess we all have those dark places in the past we don't want to go back to once we've left them behind. This song pretty much sums up this sinister period in my life and though I don't really want to go back - I've learned a precious lesson for life there. "Hurt" reminds me of that lesson once I'm close to turn around for a "flying visit"So, to me, it's a pretty important song - which is also the reason why I'm constantly trying to get my favourite voice to sing it for me but he always forgets, tz tz;)

16. IRIS - GOO GOO DOLLS

This is another "theme song" (as I like to call songs that I listen to more often in various situations) - and "Iris" is made for the times when you're feeling tired of it all and just overall down without leading you into an even deeper depression

17. 9 CRIMES - DAMIEN RICE

unlike "9 Crimes" which is basically a guarantee to make me cry in an instant whenever I'm feeling sad already

18. HOW TO SAFE A LIFE - THE FRAY

unlike "How to Safe A Life" which is basically a guarantee to make me cry in an instant at any given time. I just can't listen to that song without getting heartbroken. You can ruin my whole day with letting me listen to it (though it is so beautiful at the same time).

19. I DON'T CARE - APOCALYPTICA FEAT. ADAM GRONTIER

Whenever someone close to me really hurts me I tend to "move on" just for the sake of sanity and tell myself that "I don't care" until eventually we agree again. If you happen to notice I'm listening to this song for days you should have an eye on me if you do care.

20. I GUESS YOU KNOW - EXILIA

And yet another song that plays on "repeat 'til world ends"-mode whenever I'm down but unlike all the others before this one actually cheers me up (after I've been wasting an hour of my life and a whole package of hankies). However, it always works.

21. LET THE BODIES HIT THE FLOOR - DROWNING POOL

This song reminds me of playing video games. I tend to get a littleuhm"emotional" about games (others might say "aggressive" xD). I curse a lot (even at Pokemon, more likely at fighting games against friends). I perform ragequits (talking to you, Need For Speed ). I perform fearquits and then get angry about being scared by a game (Why hello Project Zero Series ) Unlike "Scavenger" by Killradio (not mentioned in the list) that just reminds me of playing - this song sums up my "regular" game-experience. And yes, I'm proud of that xD

22. IN THE END - LINKIN PARK

I really can't tell why this song is here. It's nothing "special" to me basically but I felt like I should really give a place to Linkin Park and I had four songs in mind. You could easily replace this one with "Runaway" or "Numb" or "One Step Closer " and it wouldn't make that much of a difference for me.

23. OPEN MY EYES - THE RASMUS

If I had to live without this song I wouldn't be able to get into an airplane anymore. Why? Because this song is a must-play at every take-off. Usually I start the song when the airplane engines start and move on to the next song once the plane has reached travel altitude. I don't even know why I'm doing this everytime I'm flying but I just don't feel well without. (I guess that's just another tic) And yes, I've been doing it at every take-off so far and I don't plan to change it for the sake of having crazy habits besides all the bad ones ;)

24. KICKSTART MY HEART - M TLEY CR E

First song ever I've heard of M tley Cr e - of course it must be cherished. Besides the fact I really admire Nikki (for his books and photos, mainly. Because c'monwho likes a bass player anyway?! ;D No, I'm just kidding here. How could I possibly make jokes about Nikki Sixx, haha.) - however, besides that this song brings back the memories of the legendary gig the Cr e played with Slash last year and Gods,it has been a hell of a gig!

25. HOME, SWEET HOME - M TLEY CR E

My homecoming-song. (That came kinda unexpected, right? ;D) As much as I love to be on the road and hang out anywhere but home,as much as I've got "itchy feet" all the time and actually miss unknown places,I doesn't matter I've never been homesick for just a minute, when I see the first bits of Munich again after a trip I have this song in my mind and occasionally smile.

26. MR. BRIGHTSIDE - THE KILLERS

This songHave you ever read the book "We Children from Bahnhof Zoo"? I had to read it during school and first I was pretty annoyed but when we had vacations and our homework was to read like half of the book I totally got stuck with it. I was sitting there, listening Mr. Brightside and reading for hours, even finishing the book though we weren't said to do so. Later on I've found my passion in reading about these kind of topics and this song just sticks to it, still.

27. THE MOMENT OF OUR LOVE - NEGATIVE

Awww, the memories. Now actually I should have chosen The Rasmus' "In The Shadows" for it was the first one to bring me closer to finnish music buuut it just doesn't mean a thing to me anymore, unlike "The Moment Of Our Love". But basically you can apply the "reason" for it being on the list to both songs anyway: Those songs started my "obsession" with finnish music. And up until this very day I've made so many friends through it, got to see so many places and just made tons of memories that at least one song has to be mentioned here.

28. POKEMON THEME - JASON PAIGE

Yes, I'm serious. (I can't even say I'm serious without laughing xD) but, yes, I am so serious about this one. This song sums up the good things about my childhood. I still love the game series (and can't wait for X/Y to be released later this year *fangirl-squee*) and so do most of my friends. You can randomly start to play this song around us and we'll be like: I WANNA BE THE VERY BEST! LIKE NO ONE EVER WAS! DAM DAM DAM and right after that we would imitate Pokemon-calls (Chu? Pi-Pikachu!) and eventually sing the Poke-Rap. Flawlessly.

29. WICKED GAME - CHRIS ISAAK / HIM

This songAfter a nasty breakup in 2008 I decided to see my favourite band on a gig though it was 600 km away from home. It was the first of many more-or-less spontaneous short trips. Near joined me on this trip and can witness just *what* a hell of a trip it was. This song reminds us about this special weekend because a certain drummer sang it in the "totally wasted" version - which still makes me die laughing xD

30. GLAMOUROUS SKY - MIKA NAKASHIMA

Another one showing up here because of a soundtrack. Another one with a story behind. A friend brought this movie along to cheer me up after weeks of being really down and I ended up in tears (mission: failed) - because I've been in a similiar situation as the girl in the movie - only without the happy end.

31. LOSE YOURSELF - EMINEM

Yes, he's white. But he's also the only artist of this genre I can listen to. This song reminds me of two things. The rather random is how I found the album "The Eminem Show" on sale in France and killed the terrible time there listening it over and over again while playing Bloody Roar 2. The second one is rather important for this song was played over and over again years later when I got my first tattoo. I didn't actually chose to hear it but it was playing and I didn't complain.

32. SHE - STALA&SO.

This is one of my travel-songs. Because I'm mostly out to see the world because one of the bands I fancy play anywhere but in my hometown - which happens a lot xD Grr

33. NJ SNAV LIN - SIGUR ROS

"The Nothing Song" - sung in a language that doesn't really excist ("Hopelandic") and still one of the most touching songs I've ever heard. For some reasons I "understand" lyrics that aren't there and maybe that's why I really like this one (but it tends to make me sad)

34. SKIN - SIXX:A.M.

Google the lyrics or listen to the song on Youtube and you've found the reason I had to list it here. Pure beauty.

35. PARADISE CITY - GUNS'N\'ROSES

It just ain't normal what this song does to me xD I really love the "old" stuff but this very song makes me roar along and play air-guitar every.fucking.time. And yes, I mean everytime - I pretty much don't care if I'm at work - the customers have to live with the fact that I turn the volume up and let them wait in order to be able to finish the solo. Once, when I was still working at Subway, doing the closing and cleaning of the store this song started andlong story short - my former boss and me stood headbanging on top of the counter. Rock'n'Roll bitches! m/

36. STAND UP AND SHOUT! - STEEL DRAGON

I just love the movie "Rock Star". I love it in a way I dress up all metal-ish in the middle of the night only to perfectly adapt Bobby Beers' style and "join" his stage-performance. I love it in a way I could cry over the fact that I can't imitate his performance anymore because of my back. But damn, I can still sing this song and guess what? I love that, too ;)

37. LEGEND OF ZELDA THEME

All gamers stand for the national anthem"Link - he come to town - Come to save the princess Zelda - Ganon took her away - Now the children don't play - But they will when Link saves the day - Hallelujah!" (No, I didn't lost the last piece of sanity, check Youtube ;P)

38. IF YOU WERE GAY - AVENUE Q

A musical song? Now where is that list leading to?! Well basically that's just another song Near and I are singing all the time when we're going out. It's just really funny (both, the song and the musical) and a duett - so what'd be better to sing together at funny times than this?! ;)or maybe "Anything you can do (I can do better)" would do the trick as well.

39. THIS BOTTLE OF WINE - MARIA MENA

A friend sent this song to me when we we're drinking wine together via skype, talking about this 'n' that until the day was dawning and now I can't look at wine without having this song in mind. Well thanks xD

40. NEVER LOOK BACK - THE NEARLY DEADS

This song's rather new within my favourites. I've been stumbling upon it somewhen in autumn 2012 and so I had it on my IPod when I was heading off to Norway. It's pretty rare actually that I enjoy a female voice (for whatever reason) but I totally fell for this song when I was listening to it while watching the sunrise from above the clouds. That has been a pretty amazing thing to witness and fitted the song perfectly.

41. HEAVEN'S HUNG IN BLACK - W.A.S.P.

I really don'tno comment.

42. I LIKE - KERI HILSON

Who the f*ck is Keri Hilson?! I have no idea xD This song however was played in the radios every hour in 2009 and it happened that it became my roadtrip-soundtrack for spring 2010. There is no way I can remember the tour without having this tune in my head instantly. I like.

43. CRAZY LOOP - DAN BALAN

Just here because it always brings a smile on my face =) I actually enjoy that kind of music every now and then. Also this song is one of the countless freak-out-songs of Near and me and brings back so many memories about trips and party nights.

44. YOU THINK YOU'RE A MAN - FULL FRONTAL

Knowing it from the gay series "Queer As Folk" it has become one of the best party-songs ever. If I had a dollar for everytime we heard this song on parties or trips I'd be a millionaire. It also makes a good song for the alarm clock. Gay (as in "happy") mornings!

45. FOREVER YOUNG - TEMPERANCE

Another song from QAF. My BF and me call it "our" song for the simple fact we've been watching the series together and ever since then she connects the song with me xD Well, I can live with that.

46. KISSING YOU - DES'REE

This is kinda embarassing but yes, I actually like the weird adaption of Romeo & Juliet with Leonardo Di Caprio (If you ever happen to watch it, give Tybalts gun a closer look. It's the same modell as the one Mello owns in Death Note, even with the small cross being the same. How could I hate that?!). And I absolutely love this song. It's so cheesy and dramatic - I just can't hate it. It makes me go awww.

47. LOSING MY RELIGION - R.E.M.

Unlike this one. Really. I hate it. I just really, really hate it. It makes me wanna scream and puke at the very same time. But why am I singing along to it everytime it plays on the radio and why is it "wasting" a precious place in this too-short list? Because it reminds me of my trip to England (along with D'espairs Ray "Yami Ni Furu Kiseki"). And this trip was legen- .wait for it . - dary. (Though it has been a school exchange!)

48. CHOU - TSUKIKO AMANO

Project Zero 2 - do I need to say more ? Just in case, I'll do: Besides Tsukiko Amano is incredible beautiful and the song's video is just cool, of course I mostly like this song for it is PZ2 s ending song. And in case you haven't noticed: I love that game.

49. REBEL YELL - BILLY IDOL

C'mon, as if this song needs a reason to be hereIf so: She want more. More, more, more, more, more! m/

50. BELIEVE - CHER

There is this one memory about this song that makes me writing it down here. When the mother of my BF married again we were the flowers girls. We wore those sweet apricot-colored dresses (her Granny sewed them while we were watching a horror movie for the first time in our lifes. We were about 6-7 and the movie was Interview With The Vampire) After the wedding my BF was "allowed" to come to my place (we were happy that it was okay, now I know what her parents were up to "allowing" her to sleep over;P) However, we sat there in the rear bank of the car in our fancy dresses, it was raining heavily and my BF fell asleep while I was looking out of th window when this song was played on the radio. The song itself isn't any better than others that were on my mind for this list, nor the memory is some kind of special butYeah. I kinda hate myself for giving the dress away last year. Then again I kept the ribbon and don't even know why. I guess it's just one of the stronger memories that don't really need a good reason to stay.

The actual positions don't really count (except for the first one in line) but I was just too lazy to arrange them according to their importance. I heard the idea of the list and was like: 50? That's quite a lotBut after I started I soon figured out that 50 is way too less. Several times I was signing one song in, scratching it out, only to name it later again. It really wasn't that easy but it was fun to do anyways. I hope you did enjoy to see "behind the scenes" of this blog like this (I actually plan to do such lists every now and then to give you an idea about the author of A Darker Heaven - You've been warned ;P)

Feel free to take the "50 Songs For The Rest Of Your Life" Challenge as well!
