Favorite Animes?

I love any animes with action, adventure, violence, mild blood, horror(no psychodramas), comedy, supernatural, and awesome fighting.

For anyone reading this, here is a (not) complete list of my favorite animes, just for like reference or some shit like that:

Bakuman

Ever wondered about the exciting world of Manga? The in's and out's of the world of editors and the mangaka they're in charge of? How a romance that tests how close to the breaking point you can push people's sense of disbelief? Well, all this and more can be found in the manga rivalry series, created by Death Note's Tsugumi Ohba and Takashi Obata, Bakuman!

Moritaka Mashiro is an average high schooler with average ambitions and a slight talent for drawing. After leaving a drawing of his crush, Miho Azuki, in his notes at school, he returns to find the notes in the hands of Akito Takagi, the smartest kid in his class with the unusual dream of becoming a manga writer, and wants Mashiro to do the artwork. Mashiro refuses, thinking back to his mangaka uncle, who started his career to ask out a girl he loved, but waited too long and eventually worked himself to death. That night, Takagi drags Mashiro to Azuki's home, where he reveals that she dreams of becoming a voice actress. Mashiro agrees on the spot to draw Takagi's manga, and in the spin of the moment, asks her to marry him when their manga is an anime and she voices the heroine. She agrees, but only if they never see each other until their dreams come true. Now Takagi and Mashiro, armed only with determination and the knowledge left behind by Mashiro's uncle, they set out to take the gamble of becoming mangaka, under the name Ashirogi Muto.

Of my Love for Villains

So even though I explained in the previous blog about how my love of Lysander's coat had me very willing to sell out all of humanity, I'd like to explain that it wasn't just his coat that got me to that point. Don't get me wrong, obtaining that coat would have been a major selling point to turn against humanity for me, but it wasn't the only reason. The other reason? Even with all his ridiculous 'All humanity is scum' ranting I couldn't help but start to like the guy, probably because he gave me things, and gave me praise and I do so love getting recognition.

But I've always loved Giovanni, and after reading the Pokemon Special manga for about a year straight now, and starting to return to the fandom through interacting with it online I've really grown to hold that man in high regard. But that's probably because he is one of the few characters in the Pokemon Special that actually seem to do anything to actively save the protagonists life, but that rant is to be saved for another day.

Anime to begin with...

As of the past two weeks or so I've had about eight (I know! Social interaction!) or so people ask me to recommend them some anime to watch/start off with. Those of you that know me in real life will know that I'm an avid anime and manga fan and I will be more than happy to discuss my favourites with you. If you are already a fan and want something else to watch, check out my anime list .

I'm sure not too many people will be interested in this post, but for those of you that are.. let the obsession begin. This is just a very short list of the anime I like to recommend to people who may not really like anime or that want to start watching anime but have no idea where to begin. I hope some of you anime fans out there will agree with me. I've not included any films in this list, but if you are interested, I can make that list for another day. I've also included my thoughts on the dubbed (english) versions, if there are any.

Alive but Dead.

Assalamualaikum,

I've always enjoyed watching anime. To me, despite the excessive acts of violence and somewhat unnecessary clothing, each one of them contain numerous lessons to be learnt. Some of my favorites are Gensoumaden Saiyuki, Death Note, Detective Conan and Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. I watch other anime as well, but out of the many anime that I watch, these four have always been my favorites, and I've never felt bored watching them over and over and over again.

Cosplay Interview with Harajuku Bunny!

We are about to go on a cosplay adventure with

NERDSOCIETY.COM: Thanks for taking the time to interview with us at NERDSociety.com, would you be so kind as to state your name? Stage name? Where are you from?

Wizard Barristers: Too Much Order

Almost immediately after being introduced to Cecil, we find out she is a genius. Something about going to college at 15 and becoming a barrister at 17, if memory serves me correctly. To top it all off, she one ups a cop trying to search her property, she investigates a crime scene because it is the right thing to do, she promises to help her new defendant, and then she summon this metal monster thing (I'm not going to look up the real name of it), while commenting that its only a mini version of her full potential.

In other words, Cecil is freakin perfect in every possible way. She even has that half Canadian thing about her to make her even more interesting. And thus, I can't stand her character. So far, the rest of the show is great. I liked the two cops, and even most of the side characters. However, I can't get over how much I hate Cecil. Now one could say that perfection is nothing new in anime, and I'd agree, but usually the series is of a different nature - more dark-ish. Further, perfection has always been somewhat filtered. For example, Light in Death Note was smart, cunning, etc., etc, but he had no super power. For all practical purposes, he was just a normal high school student to the public. The Death Note only ended up in his possession by mere chance. To that end, I enjoyed the series partly because of the way it ended.

why death note doesn't work

DISCLAIMER: yes i'm talking about the live action films

also.. SPOILER ALERT... SO MANY SPOILERS OMG IT'S NOT FUNNY

Lost in Translation

059

Since we're an otaku couple with Anett (sort of...), sometimes i get the idea, that it would be cool if we could watch anime together. Sadly, our taste isn't the same at all. Honestly, they're really far apart fromeach other, so it's a bit complicated, and she prefers to read manga much more, but her weak point is yaoi, so i thought that it's time to see some animated GAYPORN.

The opportunity to choose was mine, and i'm the type to judge a book by it's cover, plus i prefer short anime (especially movies and OVAs, the normal length for me is around 12 episodes), so i poked at the short ones. They were the following.

2013 Japan Trip Highlights and Acquisitions!

In a brilliant attempt to circumvent me running out of steam doing a day-by-day recount of my trip, this time, I'll be writing just one post featuring only the juicy bits - Akihabara, Comiket (doujins) and more!

I'll organize this post by sections that go in chronological order. At the end of the recount, will be a section that is dedicated to all the acquisitions that I got during my trip.

Review:

After so many warnings and reasurrances, Kanazawa finally has snow and the temperatures got below zero (only by a little, but still). And if I ever need any excuse to binge watch stuff, then weather like that is good enough. So at an almost scary pace I watched the entirety of "Hanasaku Iroha" (), a 2011 anime.

When I read some synopses on Wikipedia, I expected something quite average and I expected myself to keep watching it only because it's real life set inspiration is Yuwaku-onsen in Kanazawa. So it was such a nice surprise when I started watching and discovered that story from the synopses was very simplified.

To be or not to be...

It is so god awful thinking of something to write. I personally need something to HIT me. This morning I was awoken at the unearthly early hour off eleven o'clock to the sound of the neighbor knocking the door down because he wanted to play on our Xbox. I then dragged my disheveled state into the kitchen where I drank some coffee and noticed we had no washing up liquid. Back I walk back into my room where I put on some clothes on the floor and pack my bag for the library. I went to the library and printed off my essay and came home. Ever since then I have been lounging around talking to friends. That is my day ladies and gentlemen. What is life?

I'm sitting on this couch trying to figure out what nugget of knowledge or funny-thing-that-happened this week I should impart upon those who charitably read my nonsense every week (by the way thank you guys, I really appreciate it!). Honestly nothing of significance occurred this week. I apologize profusely for this. I'm a terrible blogger really. It has just been so busy with writing essays and trying to juggle the seven or so TV series' I am currently trying to navigate through. If anybody is interested this includes Doctor Who, The Vampire Diaries, New Girl, Breaking Bad (Yes I know I'm sorry its on my to-do list right after learning to drive and apply for a passport) Supernatural and Death note. Then there are the other day to day things like remembering to eat, buying toilet paper and Starbucks with the girls - and getting drunk of course (priorities.)

Ergo Proxy

Being a strong fan of dystopian anime, I found myself drawn to Ergo Proxy after having read about it on MyAnimeList. I saw that it fit the genres of mystery and psychological and as a result, I went into it with high hopes. Whether or not these hopes were met, you'll see later on.

The story is set on Earth, but not as we know it. The methane hydrate layer has exploded resulting in the environment being uninhabitable for the majority of humans. Consequently, humans are forced to live in domed cities, in order to survive. The story follows three main protagonists who live in one of these domed cities, Romdeau. Vincent Law, an immigrant into the city of Romdeau whose only aim is to be accepted as a model citizen, Re-L Mayar, an Information Bureau` Inspector who is granddaughter to the regent, and Pino, a companion type Autoreiv( basically a human-like robot whose only aim is to serve) who is infected by the cogito virus.

Holidays and the winter that never was

This is a short blog about our holidays which, sadly, has come to an end. Ronnie and I had a very nice two week holiday over Christmas, which we spend mostly indoors doing as little as possible. Actually that is not entirely true since we did a lot of fun things on which I will elaborate on a bit more below (more complete blogs on some of these may follow).

Thus far this winter the weather was very disappointing. We only had one good snow storm but since the temperatures stayed above 0, the snow quickly melted. What was left was a rainy, wet winter with temperatures oscillating between 1 and 5 deg C and clouds that never cleared. Perfect weather for cozy indoor fun. The first part of the vacation we spent time on preparing for Christmas and enjoying the Christmas spirit. The second part were spent mostly playing with our presents. New Year was (unlike most previous New Years) snow free. We went up to the castle to watch the fireworks. Every New Year people congregate on various spots in town and shoot their own fireworks. We did not take any ourselves, but watched the usual mayhem of slightly unstable hands lighting up fireworks, with the occasional accidental explosion on the ground between crowds of yelling people. The castle is a very nice place to watch these goings on with a nice panorama over town with fireworks everywhere and the church bells ringing in the New Year.

Anime rants~

Okay! >:D I've finished all 76 episodes of Jigoku Shoujo in the past 3 days! God, GOD!! THERE'S SO MUCH HINTED SHOUJO AI! AND WHEN AI KISSED YUZUKI I'M ALL LIKE, YES, IT'S CANON! IT'S CANON! She saved her because she liked her!! She didn't want Yuzuki to suffer like her!

Thinking about Drive and Flow

This Christmas my uncle was stuck for something to get me, but he remembered I loved anime so he visited a comic shop in the hope of finding something suitably japanified. But oh ho was he surprised to find all manga in the store gone. Sold. Every last Bleach, One Piece and Naruto, Death Note, Fist of the North Star, just evaporated into the stockings of thousands of manga lovers everywhere. He asks the till guy if there's anything left to salvage? Not even one manga left. A pause. He was handed this:

Bakuman - two lads follow their dreams to become mangaka (manga artists). No homo, surprisingly!

Liebster Awards / Questions From Other Bloggers

Hey there folks! Christmas is fast approaching and i'm desperately looking forward to Wednesday's music spotlight so I can finally show off a holiday-themed song I really love. In the mean time, however, was nice enough to nominate me for something much like blogger chain mail called the Liebster Awards. I have to answer questions and stuff, then pass on the award. Here we go!

THE LIEBSTER AWARD WAS ORIGINALLY INTENDED TO GIVE SOME EXPOSURE TO SMALL BLOGS, BUT LET'S NOT WORRY ABOUT THAT. THE RULES ARE AS FOLLOWS:

Fairy Tail Part Five (2013)

ONCE UPON A TIME, RONAN DALY REVIEWED FAIRY TAIL (PART 5), THE LATEST ANIME INSTALMENT, SPINNING OUT OF HIRO MASHIMA'S MANGA OF THE SAME NAME. THE SERIES FOLLOWS THE WIZARD'S GUILD, FAIRY TAIL, AND ITS MANY BATTLES, ADVENTURES AND GENERAL MAGICAL TOMFOOLERY. MORE SPECIFICALLY, IT FOCUSES ON LUCY HEARTFILIA, A YOUNG FEMALE WIZARD WHO SPECIALISES IN SUMMONING MAGIC, USING HER VERY SPECIAL CELESTIAL KEYS (IN JAPANESE, LUCY IS VOICED BY ARA HIRANO, WHO PORTRAYED A TREMENDOUSLY MEMORABLE MISA AMANE IN THE ANIME DEATH NOTE; IN ENGLISH, LUCY IS VOICED BY CHERAMI LEIGH, WHO PLAYED THE VERY DANGEROUS PATTY THOMPSON IN THE SOUL EATER ANIME).

At the beginning of the series, Lucy joins the guild, meeting Natsu Dragneel (voiced in Japanese by Tetsuya Kakihara from Bleach, Blue Exorcist and Black Lagoon - as well as dozens of other very good series which don't start with "bl" - and in English by Todd Haberkorn from One Piece and Naruto Shippuden) along the way. Natsu, a fully-fledged member of the guild, is also a dragonslayer, a very rare type of wizard actually taught magic by the dragons themselves. His companion, Happy (voiced in Japanese by Rie Kugimiya, who won acclaim for her roles in Zero no Tsukaima and Toradora, and in English by Deadman Wonderland's Tia Ballard) just so happens to be a blue, flying, talking cat, just in case there was any lingering doubt regarding the magical nature of the series. The different wizard guilds exist to allow wizards to gain rank and experience in their crafts, and also for wizards to find work, whether in creating magical items or fighting off terrifying and powerful monsters. Each guild has its own reputation and personality and there is great rivalry between different guilds.

Madhouse

Madhouse is an animation studio in Japan that animates many popular television anime series such as Trigun, Vampire Hunter and Death Note. This logo redesign incorporates more of an illustration feel than the existing logo. I used ink in reference to the ukiyo-e art style of Japan (ink wash paintings) which point to the lineage and tradition of illustration in Japan. I combined this idea with the Rorschach method of having hidden shapes within the ink paintings. A symbol of a house can be seen coming out of the splatter to help symbolize the title and compliment the ink application conceptually.

For the titlecard I wanted to emphasize the ink even more by having it soak through paper and form the logo. I still wanted the over all effect to be simple, clean, and fast for it be an effective titlecard.
